Operate auxiliary binding machines with multiple cutting heads and control surfaces
Set up and operate adhesive binding machines (perfect binders) including vibrating, milling, roughening, gluing, covering, and stacking stations
Inspect equipment for safety and follow established safety protocols
Adjust and synchronize multiple workstations to maintain production flow and quality
Direct and support other operators to ensure goals for quality, output, and productivity are met
Maintain and adjust folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, and gluing machines using standard and specialized tools
Make machine adjustments based on job specifications and paper types (weight, size, moisture, etc.)
Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities for improvement or troubleshooting
Communicate effectively with team members to meet production deadlines
Experience operating and adjusting bindery equipment including folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, and gluing machines
Strong knowledge of setup, procedures, and machine capabilities for folding, collating, and cutting printed materials
Familiarity with different paper weights, sizes, and conditions and ability to adjust machines accordingly
Basic math skills (decimals, metric units) for interpreting job orders and making precise adjustments
Proficiency with hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, punches, knives) and specialized tools for machine maintenance
Ability to read and interpret job specifications and machine operation instructions
Previous bindery or print industry experience required
Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently
Ability to stand for long periods in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
