Founded by John and Jennifer Garrett in 2016 out of a necessity to meet the growing demands of Community Impact Newspaper, Community Impact Printing has grown from an exclusive newspaper producer to offer a variety of printed materials. With our mission to help local businesses thrive at the forefront of everything we do, we were able to build a team of some of the most experienced press operators, bindery experts and mail professionals in the market today. Although we started out of necessity, we have grown into a full-service, one-stop shop, for businesses around the country.

THE POSITION

We are seeking a hands-on, hard-working, detail-oriented professional to join our team. The Bindery Operator I ensures accuracy and quality of products produced out of the Stitcher/Trimmer and Inserter areas.

JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and calibrate the Stitcher/Trimmer and Inserter
• Navigate Stitcher software to make any needed adjustments before and during a run
• Cycle the Inserter machine to sync the pockets and feeder sensors
• Find and move job files to the correct folder on the Inserter
• Set up and calibrate the stacker to ensure neat, square and uniform bundles
• Inspect and replace belts and strapping
• Utilize Videojet software to import files and change job parameters as necessary
• Operate Kyocera, Kodak, and Taba printers
• Load and change label rolls on the Inserter
• Maintain knowledge of machine coding, error messages, reporting, and machine troubleshooting
• Perform Daily, Weekly and Monthly maintenance on the Stitcher/Trimmer and Inserter

In addition to general team member expectations, this role specifically requires the following:

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum requirements:

• 2 or more years of experience with offset printing
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
• Available during 2nd Shift hours of 3:30 PM to 12 AM, Monday to Friday
• Ability to work occasional weekends or variable shifts based on business needs

Preferred qualifications:

• Mechanical and machinist skills
• Extensive knowledge of paper characteristics and its effect on production and quality
