Job Description

Hill International is recruiting a senior BIM Manager to join our team in Lisbon and provide support on major building and infrastructure developments. The BIM Manager will lead project´s information-management strategy across the full project lifecycle.

This is a core team, full-time role within an integrated client-side delivery team. The BIM Manager works as a key member of our core project delivery team leading Designer BIM deliverable review, federated model coordination, CDE governance and the BIM Execution Plan throughout design and construction phases.

Strategy and standards

  • Lead the TA's BIM strategy, BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and information-management approach in line with BS EN ISO 19650.
  • Define and maintain the project's Reference Technical Standard for BIM and digital delivery, in coordination with project and Design Managers
  • Coordinate with the Document Control Manager to integrate BIM model management

Designer and contractor coordination

  • Specify and oversee the Common Data Environment (CDE) setup, federated-model management and information exchange protocols with the Designer and the ECI Contractor(s).
  • Review the Designer's BIM deliverables, Master Information Delivery Plan (MIDP) and Model Production Delivery Table (MPDT) against ANA's Employer Information Requirements (EIR).
  • Lead the standing model-check protocol at each BIM data drop: model identity and extractions, coordinate framework, project standards, content and geometry, LOG/LOI, classification and traceability, clash detection and interface coordination.
  • Chair interdisciplinary BIM coordination workshops; manage clash-detection cycles and coordination resolution with the Designers and Contractors.

Lifecycle and downstream integration

  • Specify Asset Information Model (AIM) requirements for handover and operations, including asset-tagging strategy and traceability to ANA's centralised Asset Information Requirements and GIS environment.
  • Coordinate with the Costs Manager and Carbon Estimator on 5D BIM model use for cost estimating, BoQ production and embodied-carbon quantification.
  • Support the Design Coordinator on BIM-related input to the Candidatura Technical Offer compilation (Task 7).

Team leadership

  • Manage and develop the BIM Specialist team.
  • Provide BIM input to procurement including BIM requirements in tender documentation and evaluation.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of BIM management experience on major infrastructure or complex building programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience as BIM Manager complex infrastructure programs
  • Direct experience authoring BIM Execution Plans, MIDP, Asset Identification Standards and Asset Data Dictionaries for lifecycle use.
  • Track record of CDE specification, tendering and implementation on multi-party design programmes.
  • Experience working as a client-side advisor reviewing Designer deliverables — not solely on the Designer side.

Mandatory standards and certifications

  • Demonstrable working knowledge of BS EN ISO 19650 (parts 1 and 2) and PAS 1192-2 / BS 1192 legacy frameworks.
  • BuildingSMART OpenBIM Professional Certification, or equivalent recognised BIM/ISO 19650 certification (or willingness to certify within the first six months of mobilisation).

Education

  • Master's-level qualification in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related discipline. A formal BIM Management MSc or equivalent post-graduate qualification is strongly preferred.

Technical software stack

  • Modelling and review: Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD / Civil 3D; Bentley AECOsim or comparable.
  • CDE: Bentley ProjectWise, Autodesk BIM 360 / Construction Cloud, Viewpoint, or comparable.
  • Coordination: Revizto or equivalent.
  • IFC and OpenBIM tooling; familiarity with VIRCORE or equivalent visualisation platforms is a plus.

Languages

  • English: professional working proficiency (mandatory — project working language).
  • Portuguese or French: working proficiency strongly preferred.

Personal attributes

  • Able to operate as a peer to a Designer-side BIM Manager: technically credible, calm under pressure, and prepared to hold a position on quality.
  • Comfortable in a client-facing senior role within an integrated owner-and-consultant team.
  • Collaborative working style
