Under the general supervision of the Billing Manager, performs technical billing work. Work involves performing detailed assignments in recording, classifying, examining, and verifying financial records, documents, or reports. Work involves billing various IDD programs, to include ICF, HCS and TxHmL programs as well as Mental Health billing to Medicaid, Medicaid MCOs, Medicare, commercial insurance, and self-pay. This position has accountability over the client trust accounts and will assist IDD and MH program staff in resolving Medicaid, Medicare, and third-party payer billing issues.
Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Medicaid billing processes and practices specific to IDD and MH services, and of Medicaid MCO, Medicare, commercial insurance, and self-pay billing for MH services. Skill in the use of a personal computer and related office equipment. Ability to review work for accuracy, to accurately perform detailed numerical work, to make arithmetical computations, and to communicate effectively. Must be able to work to meet deadlines and work with internal and external contacts to solve problems. Must maintain the confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA and agency policy.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or Equivalent and one year of medical billing or medical office experience required. Medical billing experience and familiarity with basic accounting or bookkeeping principles preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
A valid Texas Driver License and good driving record is required along with a copy of a valid auto insurance card.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, lift 25 pounds, sit for an extended period, and reach overhead.
