About this position:

The Billing Specialist is responsible for utility billing and meter reading functions including daily billing tasks such as processing, reviewing, and monitoring bills. They also provide support to internal and external customers regarding billing operations, procedures, and issues.

About this job:

  • Analyze utility customer billing data, account history, and meter information to identify discrepancies, trends, root causes, and potential metering issues, ensuring accurate billing
  • Learn and navigate multiple systems to research, analyze and resolve system exceptions, alarms and events
  • Interpret meter data and billing determinants to ensure accurate billing outcomes
  • Review and maintain compliance with tariff and regulatory requirements across multiple states
  • Assist in the detection and reporting of suspected cases of lost revenue through data analysis and system review
  • Perform specialized complex billing for large customers
  • Work with suppliers to process customer supplier switches, process supplier's energy usage reports.
  • Process time sensitive daily files with a high degree of accuracy and accountability
  • Create and process meter reading files; assist meter readers with loading routes to handheld and mobile devices
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries, providing clear communication and exceptional customer service regarding billing questions or adjustments
  • Work closely with analysts and supervisor to determine process versus system issues
  • Demonstrate strong independent judgment and decision-making in resolving complex issues
  • Complete all work with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and minimal supervision
  • Ability to accurately interpret, follow, and execute detailed process documentation, procedures, and system instructions ensuring consistent, accurate outcomes in a multi-system, analytical environment
  • Work an 8 hour rotating schedule with hours ranging from 6:00am to 4:00pm
  • The ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position, consistent with applicable laws and reasonable accommodation requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred minimum two years of related experience/training within billing processes
  • Experience or training in computer-related systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications
  • Work effectively in a team environment as well as being self-motivated
  • Excellent attendance and adherence record
  • Get Into Energy - Energy Industry Fundamental 2.0 certification is a plus (click the link to certify at no cost)
