Job Description

Billing Representative II - Monday to Friday, 7:00AM – 4:30PM Eastern

As a Billing Rep- Billing II, you will work by phone or correspondence to gather missing information to ensure proper billing to clients, patients, or third-party insurances. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous customer service experience in a professional office setting who is interested in moving into a new area while learning additional skills.

Pay range: $17.20+ per hour

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes and applies responses from third party payers for all media types, paper and electronic. Includes denials, manual and electronic processes for insurance carriers.
  • Post payments from payers’ explanation of benefits.
  • Complies with departmental Business Rules and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Focuses efforts on increasing cash and/or reducing bad debt.
  • Interprets explanation of benefits for appropriate follow up action.
  • Utilizes automation tools to process the denials/cash responses.
  • Communicates and collaborates with members, peers and/or providers to evaluate claims errors/issues, using clear, simple language to ensure understanding.
  • Works on various other projects as needed.
  • Meets the performance goals established for the position in the areas of production, quality, patient and client satisfaction as well as attendance.



Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability using computer and Windows PC applications, such as Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Teams, video conferencing and regular use of Access databases.
  • Strong keyboard and navigation skills and ability to learn new computer programs.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • 1+ years experience in A/R, Billing, and Customer Service, Insurance, or Healthcare.
  • Some College level classes/coursework are preferred.
  • Previous work experience in a fast-paced, production environment requiring strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Medical terminology acumen and experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Quest billing, reject codes, WBS /QBS preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work cross functually within billing.
  • Ability to understand EOBs (explanation of benefits)
  • Strong keyboard and navigation skills and ability to learn new computer programs - Previous data entry experience preferred.
