An exciting career opportunity awaits you as a Billing Rate Analyst, where you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining our firm's client billing rates and ensuring a consistent fee structure. Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate communication of billing rates and requirements to lawyers, the Client Services Team, and Business Services Support Teams.
- Manage billing rate agreement renewals on an annual and ad hoc basis, collaborating with responsible lawyers.
- Maintains the Special Fee Rate report, highlighting any special billing rate arrangements to the Toronto Finance Committee.
- Communicate any rate inconsistencies with the responsible lawyer(s) and coordinate the agreement process.
- Analyzes and proposes billing rates for new timekeepers, without predetermined set rates.
- Manages the New Matter Intake System, as it relates to billing requirements, for new clients and new matters firmwide.
- Develops intimate knowledge of client arrangements with financial institutions and assists with setting annual rates.
- Manages billing rate databases, reports and trackers, adhering to the higher level of confidentiality.
- Reviews client Outside Counsel Guidelines with a specific focus on billing rates, alternate fee arrangement and staffing of the file.
- Assists in documenting and refining processes and procedures.
- May perform other duties within the nature and level of the job.
Job Specifications:
Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or office administration.
- Experience in the legal industry or a professional services environment is an asset.
- Previous billing or eBilling experience is an asset.
Skill and Abilities:
- Excellent project coordination and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, coupled with a quick grasp of new technologies.
- Proficient in CMS or Elite experience is an asset.
- Strong and confident communicator with outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to use good judgment when balancing competing priorities.
- A team player able to collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Salary Range (Toronto Only):
$65,000- $75,000 annually.
