Job Description

About Us

1 in 25 adolescents and young adults will be diagnosed with serious mental illness. The majority of these families struggle to get care. Flourish ( https://flourish.health/) is here to ensure that everybody gets the same access to great care.

About the Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing Operations Associate to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our billing processes.

We are looking for a startup operator who thrives in highly structured, detail-heavy workflows and is skilled at cross-functional collaboration. You will support the day-to-day execution of billing operations in a model centered around a single bundled monthly rate, requiring rigorous tracking, reconciliation, and consistency.

You are a great fit for this role if you are organized, precise, and take pride in getting the details exactly right. You will report to the Head of Finance.

Role Responsibilities

Billing Operations Execution
  • Submit and manage monthly billing claims for all active patients under a bundled rate model

  • Ensure accuracy of billing inputs, including patient eligibility, enrollment status, and service periods

  • Maintain detailed billing records and audit trails through regular reconciliation processes

  • Identify, investigate, and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner, including denial and appeals management

  • Track billing changes such as pauses, discharges, or plan transitions and ensure accurate adjustments

  • Manage different billing systems and claim structures based on the MCO and state specific requirements

Reconciliation & Data Integrity
  • Perform routine audits to ensure billing data aligns with internal systems and source-of-truth records

  • Reconcile billing outputs against enrollment, care delivery, and eligibility data

  • Flag inconsistencies proactively and partner cross-functionally to resolve root causes

  • Support month-end close processes by ensuring billing completeness and accuracy

Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Collaborate with leadership to validate patient status, authorizations, and billing eligibility

  • Partner with Finance on invoicing, reporting, and payment tracking

  • Respond to internal billing inquiries, modeling Flourish values in high-stakes or time-sensitive situations

  • Support external billing-related inquiries as needed

Process Improvement & Support
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing workflows, accuracy, and scalability

  • Support implementation of billing systems, tools, and process enhancements

  • Contribute to documentation of billing processes and standard operating procedures

  • Support additional projects as assigned

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or comparable experience

  • 1–2 years of experience in billing, finance operations, or a detail-oriented administrative role

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Comfort working with structured data and reconciling across multiple sources

  • Strong written and verbal communication

Preferred
  • Experience with healthcare billing models (claims submission, bundled payments, both Medicaid and commercial)

  • Familiarity with billing or financial systems (e.g., Stripe, QuickBooks, or similar tools)

  • Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment

  • Comfort with spreadsheets and data reconciliation (Excel/Google Sheets)
