Billing Officer - Lekki

Location: Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria
Employment Type: Full-Time
Industry: NGO / Healthcare
Salary Range: ₦180,000 – ₦200,000 Monthly
Experience Required: 3 – 5 Years

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Billing Officer to support financial operations within a structured healthcare/NGO environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurate billing processes, efficient handling of HMO claims, and proactive follow-up on outstanding payments.

This role is critical in ensuring revenue accuracy, minimizing billing errors, and maintaining strong relationships with HMOs and patients through efficient financial coordination.

Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare and issue accurate invoices for services rendered in a timely manner

  • Process and manage HMO claims, ensuring completeness and compliance with provider requirements

  • Liaise with HMOs to resolve billing discrepancies, rejections, and delays

  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments from HMOs and patients

  • Maintain proper documentation and records of all billing transactions and claims

  • Reconcile billing data with internal records to ensure accuracy and completeness

  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to verify patient information and service details

  • Generate periodic billing and revenue reports for management review

  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and healthcare billing regulations

  • Support audits by providing necessary billing documentation and reports

Daily Responsibilities


  • Review patient records and service logs to generate invoices

  • Submit and track HMO claims

  • Follow up on pending, rejected, or unpaid claims

  • Update billing systems and maintain accurate financial records

  • Respond to billing-related inquiries from patients and internal stakeholders

Qualifications & Requirements


  • Minimum of HND / BSc in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3 – 5 years relevant experience in billing, preferably within healthcare or NGO settings

  • Prior experience handling HMO billing processes is highly desirable

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes

Required Skills (Must-Have)


  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic financial tools

  • Good numerical and analytical skills

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities

  • Effective communication and follow-up skills

Preferred Skills (Added Advantage)


  • Experience working with hospital management systems (HMS) or billing software

  • Familiarity with Nigerian HMO processes and guidelines

  • Knowledge of basic reconciliation and reporting
