Your role

You'll be a part of our Finance team, working closely with Lawyers, Practice Executives, internal teams and clients to support accurate, timely billing and revenue management across the firm.
As a Billing Officer in our Finance team, you will:
Prepare, review and process client invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client agreements and firm policies.
Review billing information, rates, fee arrangements and supporting documentation prior to invoice generation and distribution.
Monitor billing progress and proactively resolve issues that may delay invoicing or payment.
Support stakeholders with month- and year-end billing to meet targets and deadlines.
Investigate and resolve billing queries, disputes and invoice-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
Liaise with Billing Lawyers, Practice Executives, internal teams and clients to resolve outstanding matters.
Identify recurring billing issues and recommend process improvements to enhance billing accuracy and efficiency.
Analyse billing data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for process improvement.
Assist with system testing, process enhancements and the implementation of new billing initiatives.
This is a 12 month fixed-term opportunity. At Allens we have a hybrid working structure, typically 60% in the office and 40% from home. We would be happy to discuss any other flexible working arrangements that best support you.
About you
You will have:
Previous experience in legal billing, revenue management or accounts receivable, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
A strong understanding of billing processes, matter management and fee arrangement practices.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing billing information and financial data.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve issues independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with clients and internal stakeholders.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using practice management, billing or financial systems.
A proactive, organised and self-motivated approach, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
A customer-focused mindset and commitment to delivering exceptional service and timely outcomes.
Resilience and adaptability, with the ability to manage challenging stakeholder interactions professionally.
A collaborative working style, with the ability to build effective relationships across legal, finance and operational teams.
