About Generations Family Health Center: Generations Family Health Center is a regional community health center serving a 37-town rural region in eastern Connecticut, with locations in Willimantic, Danielson, Norwich, and Putnam. Our dedicated staff provides comprehensive primary care services to patients of all ages, including medical, dental, and behavioral health care, as well as care coordination and community outreach. In addition to our main facilities, we offer mobile programs and School Based Health Centers.

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Patient Revenue, the Billing Manger oversees and coordinates all functions of the medical, dental, and behavioral health billing and revenue cycle for all GFHC sites. Manages data entry, collection, insurance contract adherence, patient billing, correspondence, compliance, refunding/credit balances and AR follow-up and analysis. Promotes and maintains exceptional customer service while supporting timely reimbursement, active claim follow-up, effective accounts receivable management, clear interdepartmental communication, revenue-cycle performance, and collaboration with the Coding and Credentialing Manager. The position also provides coverage and operational support for the Coding and Credentialing Manager as needed.

The Billing Manager acts as a liaison between Patient Revenue, clinicians, Informatics, clinical leadership, and other departments regarding claim denial trends, billed-visit write-offs, payer and insurance plan changes, and front-end revenue-cycle issues. This includes communicating trends, identifying workflow concerns, and supporting process improvements that promote billing accuracy, timely reimbursement, and overall revenue-cycle performance.

Compensation and Benefit

Salary: $65,344 - $76,443 (based on applicable experience)

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of two (2) years’ experience in management/supervisory capacity; or equivalent combination of education and management experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in medical billing and collections.
  • Strong working knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare programs.
  • Knowledge of insurance and medical terminology, ICD 10, CPT, coding, collections, and federal and state laws governing billing compliance.
  • Ability to manage and utilize computerized medical records and billing data systems.
  • Experience with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) coding and reimbursement preferred.
  • Ability to manage and utilize electronic health records, practice management systems, payer portals, and billing data systems.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem solving skills with strong attention to detail.
