Job Description

Title: Billing Manager

Status: Full-time, Exempt (Salaried)

Reports To: Director of Finance

Supervisees: Billing Specialist

The Billing Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of all billing functions for UCP including billing for services to all payors and recording/reporting of all billing transactions, and ensuring following up for timely receipt of payments. In addition, the Billing Manager is responsible for credentialing of the agency and providers in all programs and with all applicable payors. The Billing Manager maintains revenue by establishing, implementing, and controlling the billing system and supervising billing staff.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adheres to and ensures compliance in following all local, state and federal regulations related to billing for the organization.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate submission and transmission of claims and rebills.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding claims in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and address accounts receivable.
  • Monitors billing processes and resolves issues as they arise.
  • Meets billing financial standards and objectives weekly, monthly and annually in collaboration with agency leaders.
  • Guides employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating billing policies and procedures.
  • Works to credential agency providers for all applicable insurance carriers.
  • Responsible for the updating and maintenance of all credentialing contracts, initiating new contracts to better grow service
  • Oversee agency contracts, monitoring for expiration dates, missing BAA, COI or other required information as applicable, ensuring that UCP contracts are up-to-date and in compliance with regulatory and insurance carrier rules, eliminating potential risk to the agency.

  • Role model the philosophy of UCP
  • Play a lead role in UCP being a preferred employer by staff growth and celebration, strong supervision, guidance and support, and development and recognition
  • Foster highly integrated communication and collaboration within and among the teams
  • Adhere to UCP recruitment and hiring policies and procedures ensuring compliance with State and federal laws
  • Hold staff accountable to compliance with all state and federal regulations and licensure requirements
  • Assures a safe working environment
  • Accurately and in a timely manner send all personnel documents to Human Resources for filing

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Medical Coding or related field or equivalent experience
  • Two years’ experience in medical coding/billing environment
  • One year supervisory experience
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software programs
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams
  • Ability to communicate information professionally in both verbal and written form
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize
