Cancer Care Associates (CCA) is seeking an experienced Billing & Health Fund Officer to join our growing national team and support accurate, efficient and patient-focused billing services across our network of cancer care centres.

This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in supporting the financial and administrative operations of CCA, working across patient billing, Medicare and private health fund claims, accounts reconciliation and third-party payors.

The role can be based remotely, with a preference for candidates located in New South Wales. You'll work collaboratively with our clinical, operational and billing teams across CCA's growing national network to ensure billing processes are accurate, compliant and efficient, while helping patients navigate their bills, health fund entitlements and payment options.

As one of Australia's leading providers of integrated cancer care, CCA brings together medical oncology, haematology, radiation oncology, pharmacy and clinical trials to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care closer to the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities

As our Billing & Health Fund Officer, you will:

  • Manage and reconcile patient accounts, ensuring payments, adjustments and write-offs are accurately recorded.
  • Manage and respond to queries received through the CCA billing and billing-related inbox, providing timely and professional support to stakeholders.
  • Process and follow up Medicare, private health fund and other third-party claims, resolving rejected, outstanding or underpaid claims where required.
  • Manage site-specific third-party payor accounts, including contracted Local Health Districts, CanAssist and Cancer Care Foundation clinical trial accounts.
  • Support cross-site billing audits covering consultations, radiation therapy planning and treatment, and Day Procedure Unit billing.
  • Maintain accurate financial records within CCA's practice management systems.
  • Support daily banking reconciliation and electronic payments across CCA sites where required.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting relating to accounts receivable, outstanding claims and write-offs.
  • Provide clear and professional support to patients regarding bills, payment options, health fund entitlements, gap cover and Medicare rebates.
  • Stay informed of changes to Medicare and health fund billing requirements and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders.
  • Support internal audits and compliance activities, including the preparation and submission of compliance information such as HCP and QHAPDC data.
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing processes, accuracy and efficiency across CCA sites.
  • Support the implementation of billing policies, education and continuous learning initiatives, including informed financial consent and health fund eligibility checks.

What we offer:

  • A genuine opportunity to contribute to the operations of a growing national healthcare organisation.
  • A collaborative and supportive team committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Professional development and ongoing education opportunities.
  • Competitive remuneration package.
  • Five weeks annual leave (pro rata).
  • Annual staff conference.
  • Employee Assistance Program (24/7).
  • The opportunity to contribute to a values-driven organisation focused on exceptional patient care.

We are investing more into our people as evidenced by our growing staff satisfaction from our recent Employee Surveys (including wellbeing & engagement scores of 80%). To see more of what we can offer you, and our culture – please visit: https://cancercare.com.au/employment-opportunities/
