Position Purpose:
TheBilling Coordinator coordinates and processes all home medical equipment referralsandwalkin’sverifying insurance coverage, complete doctor orders and documentation toensure cleanprocessingof claims.They perform their duties in a manner consistent with medical center philosophy and policy in areas relating to accounts receivable,public relations, and third-party relations.
What you will do:
Enters PHI data into the billingsoftwaresystem, including client demographics,reimbursementand billing information
Edits and corrects the CMS 1500 claim form using proper data elements for each payer, ensuring correct billing units, dates of service, codes and modifiers are used.Ensures claimsare in compliance withpayerregulations.
Performs all functions with theobjectiveof maximizing reimbursement to MercyOne North Iowa Home Medical Equipmentand ensuring the claim is paid/settled ina timelymannerUtilizes available data and resources to make decisions for completion of claims processing and keeps unbilled claims to a minimum levelProvides Manager with statistical feedbackofaccounts.
Communicates with other departments, physicians and their office staff, and nursing personnel as required to clarify billing discrepancies and obtain medical diagnostic information.
Demonstrates flexibility and adapts to changes in workload assignmentsActs as a backup when co-workers are absent andassistsin reducing others'backlogMaintains a positive working relationship with co-workers, medical staff, and personnel from other departmentsInstructs co-workers insales orderprocessing procedures andassistsin the orientation and training of new employees.

Hours/Schedule:
Full time/Days, Mon - Fri: 8:00am- 4:30pm. No weekends, no on call. Possible hybrid in the future.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Associate Degreeor business college courses that equatepreferred.
Experience:
Completion of medical terminology course oran equivalentcombination of education and experiencepreferred.
Demonstrated competence in a medical insurance setting for six months to one yearpreferred
