POSITION OVERVIEW

At BDC, the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs, you will help maintain the quality and accuracy of the loan and insurance portfolios that support small and medium-sized businesses across Canada. Your work contributes directly to the success of Canadian businesses by ensuring loan management activities, service requests, annual reviews, and insurance requirements are completed accurately and on time. CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Complete low and medium complexity loan management activities and monitor outstanding file items in accordance with BDC audit policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and issue client communications related to loan changes, including interest rate renewals and partial prepayments.
  • Process simple service requests and annual reviews for loan files with balances of $350,000 or less.
  • Review financial statements and perform financial analysis to identify and address potential credit or risk concerns.
  • Follow up on and process property tax payments for clients.
  • Act as a resource for insurance-related inquiries and ensure insurance requirements are renewed within required timelines.
  • Review low and medium complexity service requests and recommend risk-mitigation solutions in collaboration with Credit Risk Management, Business Centres, and internal partners.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Business Centre employees, colleagues, and internal stakeholders to support consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Stay current on changes to policies, procedures, operational processes, credit trends, and regulatory requirements that may affect the portfolio.
  • Monitor automated processes, ensure service quality, and resolve operational issues as required.
  • Support BDC's commitment to providing reliable, risk-conscious service that helps Canadian entrepreneurs grow their businesses.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in the financial services sector.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending products, services, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of credit risk management principles and practices.
  • Experience reviewing financial statements and conducting financial analysis.
  • Ability to identify and address risk-related issues proactively.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage high-volume workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated adaptability in a changing operational environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including: Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Outlook.
  • Bilingual in English and French.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of or experience in insurance administration, insurance operations, or insurance compliance.
  • Experience supporting loan portfolios in a banking or commercial lending environment.
  • Experience processing service requests, annual reviews, or loan maintenance activities within a financial institution.
