NATURE AND SCOPE:


Under the direction of the Youth Development Director, the Bilingual Preschool Instructor will be primarily responsible for supporting the delivery of the preschool curriculum and for the achievement of improving social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and general well-being English as a second language students.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

  • Work directly with students during 3-day 3-hour weekly sessions.
  • Provide rich learning experiences for bilingual students who, our goal is to preserve and enhance their first language while introducing and developing skills in their second language.
  • Deliver preapproved preschool curriculum.
  • Develop relationships with the students and work on age-appropriate milestones, regardless of background, limited English proficiency, or level of education.
  • Model positive interaction, re-direction, and other techniques while engaging with children and encouraging them to “learn-to-play” together in a classroom environment.

REQUIRMENTS:

  • High school graduate and at least 21 years of age
  • Must have proficient written, verbal, and reading skills in both English and Spanish
  • 1+ years of experience working with children in a structured setting
  • Must be able to become certified in CPR/First Aid within 30 days of employment

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • CDA or greater
  • 3+ 1+ years of experience working with children in a structured setting
