Bilingual Human Resources Specialist – English & French -Hybrid Role

Location: Brampton, ON

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bilingual Human Resources Specialist to join our HR team. This is a hands-on role supporting employees and managers in both English and French across a variety of HR functions, including payroll, recruitment, benefits administration, onboarding, employee records, and general HR administration.

The ideal candidate is approachable, professional, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and able to provide excellent HR support to employees in both official languages.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & HR Administration

  • Assist with payroll preparation and processing, including employee changes, hours, vacation, statutory holidays, deductions, and payroll adjustments.
  • Review payroll information for accuracy and assist with investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Process new hires, terminations, salary changes, transfers, leaves of absence, and other employee changes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee information within HRIS.
  • Prepare employment letters, verification letters, employee change documentation.
  • Respond to employee payroll and HR inquiries in English and French.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Support the full recruitment process from job posting through to hire.
  • Post vacancies, review applications, and screen resumes.
  • Conduct initial candidate screening interviews in English and French, as required.
  • Coordinate interviews with candidates and hiring managers.
  • Prepare employment offers and coordinate pre-employment requirements.
  • Support new-hire orientation and onboarding.
  • Ensure new employees are accurately set up in HR, payroll, and benefits systems.
  • Maintain recruitment records and provide timely communication to candidates throughout the hiring process.

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefit enrolments, changes, and terminations.
  • Assist employees in English and French with benefit eligibility, coverage, and general plan inquiries.
  • Liaise with the benefits provider to assist with resolving employee benefit issues.
  • Monitor benefit eligibility dates and maintain accurate benefits records.
  • Support administration related to leaves of absence and benefit continuation.

General HR Support

  • Act as a first point of contact for employee HR inquiries in both English and French.
  • Assist managers with HR processes, employee documentation, and general HR administration.
  • Support HR reporting, audits, employee engagement initiatives, and special projects.
  • Prepare and/or translate basic HR communications and documents between English and French as required.
  • Handle confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Payroll, or a related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of hands-on HR experience, preferably in a generalist or HR Specialist capacity.
  • Experience supporting payroll, recruitment, benefits administration, and HR administration.
  • Fluency in both English and French, written and spoken, is required.
  • Ability to conduct professional conversations, interviews, and employee communications in both English and French.
  • Experience working with an HRIS and/or payroll system is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • CHRP designation or working toward the designation is an asset.
  • Payroll education or experience is an asset.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, dependable, approachable, and comfortable being involved in all aspects of HR. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable assisting with a payroll issue, conducting a French-language candidate screening, processing a benefits enrolment, preparing an offer letter, or answering an employee's HR question.
