The Adult Day Care Program Assistant conducts activity programs and assists in providing supervision and care to meet the social, medical, and recreational needs of participants in the Adult Day Care Center. Responsible to Aid clients to ensure a safe and secure environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist clients when arriving and leaving with walkers, wheelchairs, coats, and other accessories.
Take and personally assist clients with personal needs, this could include bathroom, bathing, laundry services, hair care, and other hygiene in a safe and secure manner
Accompany, encourage and assist participants to activities within UCC and on community outings.
Conducts and assists with planning, coordinating, and developing of activities to provide exercise and therapy to participants
Assist participants in teaching crafts.
Assist participants in completing volunteer projects.
Interact with participants in one-to-one or small groups for conversation, table games, cards, craft projects, and other activities.
Assist with getting, serving, and clearing away noon meal trays, craft supplies/projects, and snacks/refreshments.
Assist clients when arriving and leaving with walkers, wheelchairs, coats, and other accessories.
Monitor and track the fluid intake of clients and provide general observation of health and medical issues.
Assist in serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks to clients, including helping with cutting up food and feeding.
Provide safety by monitoring and tracking consistently the whereabouts of clients.
Aid with cleaning and sanitation of tables, kitchen, plates, utensils, tub, and tub room.
Participate in monthly staff meetings for advanced training and to discuss issues/needs directly related to providing supports and services to the clients
Maintain client/family confidentiality and conduct themselves professionally
Adhere to all policies and procedures established
Complete mandatory training annually
Help to maintain the Center in a safe, orderly, and clean manner.
Make suggestions for participant care plans.
Give verbal and or written reports to the ADC supervisor on any changes noted in participant behavior, personality, or functional levels.
Maintain supply room.
Decorate the Center.
Answer telephone and take messages in the absence of the supervisor.
Refer family or caregiver requests/inquiries to supervisor
Assist drivers in ensuring participants are safe before, during, and after transportation
Assist drivers in facilitating the movement of participants from one area to the other, “door to door” (from home to bus, bus to the center, center to bus, and bus to home, etc.), including assisting them with their belongings, and getting in and out of the bus.
Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QualificationsTo be qualified for this position, an individual must meet the following standards and be able to perform the essential functions of the job:
High School Diploma or equivalent, Certified Nursing Assistant Certification, or experience working with seniors in a health care setting.
Experience working with older adults with dementia or Alzheimer’s preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish, patient, dependable, reliable, able to provide confidentiality, and the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work may be performed in a variety of settings with varying levels of cleanliness, noise, sitting, standing, walking, squatting, bending, lifting, and carrying over 50 lbs. pushing, pulling, going up and down stairs, and dragging. Occasional exposure to blood-borne or airborne pathogens. Occasional exposure to combative clients. Hazards are typically present in a home environment.
