YOUR MISSION (The Job Description)
The Bike Officer must be friendly, courteous, and levelheaded always, yet fair and firm in solving potential problems or guest concerns. Must be able to work under the guidance, leadership and direction of the Shift Manager, Lead/Supervisor and dual rate Lead. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to perform essential duties in a satisfactory manner. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. The Incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the casino activities for the Virgin Hotel Las Vegas in accordance with corporate policy and Nevada State regulations. Must possess mathematical skills, ability to observe and remember details, follow direction effectively and communicate in English. The Incumbent maintains a patient, friendly demeanor, possesses effective listening skills, and has a proven record of good judgment. The Incumbent is responsible for the protection of property, community policing, parking and traffic, crime prevention and service training. The Incumbent in this position is responsible for maintaining good public relations, and assisting guests and Team Members as needed.
Qualifications
THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties) Including but not limited to:
- Always maintain order of the property
- Patrol of the property and perimeter on bike and/or vehicle to ensure safe environment including traffic enforcement, emergency response, security enforcement, etc.
- Coordinate and provide for the delivery of emergency services to the property
- Assist in the coordination of some set-up and patrol of special events as required
- Assist games and slots department in removing drop boxes
- Report unsafe or hazardous conditions throughout the property
- Ensure proper detainment procedures and detainment techniques are clearly understood and carried out in accordance with civil / criminal laws and company policy and procedures; assist various local, state, and federal authorities in various activities and investigations to ensure that procedures and laws are observed
- Familiarity with various driver licenses and identification cards, and check identification of all people who appear to be under 21 years of age
- Compose accident/incident reports. Obtain statements, witness statements, surveillance requests, and required documents for reports when necessary
- Operate company vehicle in a safe manner
- Assist the casino management team in implementing and monitoring emergency procedures ensuring property and safe handling of such emergencies as fire, flood, or bomb threat
- Ensures a safe and secure atmosphere/environment for guests and Team Members, and conducts themself in a professional, courteous, and responsive manner which reflects positively of Virgin Hotels Las Vegas
- Assist sick or injured guests or Team Members
- Perform other duties as assigned
REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
In addition to the other duties described herein, every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:
- Attend required training sessions offered by Virgin Hotels Las Vegas
- Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations
- Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco
- Consult internal control procedures and policy manuals for guidance
- Report illegal activity to the appropriate levels of management

MUST HAVE'S
- Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
- Valid Nevada driver's license is required. Must provide an annual Nevada motor vehicle report with no points and no DUI's or reckless driving charges in the last 12 months
- Ability to obtain a Nevada gaming license required
- Ability to obtain Bi yearly first aid, CPR/AED training, and other required safety certifications completed within the first year of hire date
- Completion and passing of the bike training program offered by PIMBA through LVCVA
- Basic knowledge of Nevada civil and criminal laws
- Knowledge and understanding of Nevada laws concerning powers of detainment procedures
- Maintain physical stamina and proper attitude to work under pressure and deal effectively with guests, management, and Team Members
- Must possess reading writing and mathematical skills to write legible reports and effectively communicate in English with guests, Team Members and fellow Officers
- Understand and become proficient with a variety computer programs
- Make quick decisions, using good judgement and work ethics
- Identify potential problems and report them in timely manner
- De-escalate and effectively address conflicts quickly
- Must be able to identify and quickly respond to potential problems and conflicts and defend self and others in combative situations
WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE'S
- 1-2 years of security officer experience
- Knowledge of Hotel Industry security
THE WORKING CONDITIONS
Must have the ability to:
- Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, smoke, light (including flashing lights), and sound. Exposure to varying weather conditions as this position spends the majority of the shift patrolling the exterior of the casino and hotel venueMust be able to work in incremental weather to include heat, sunlight, rain, wind, etc. Proper protection provided
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment, and maintain physical stamina and mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts
- Must be able to touch and handle supplies in a safe and non-hazardous manner, maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods
- Prolonged periods biking, standing and walking
- Possible exposure to potential infectious materials
- Exposure to varying weather conditions
- Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching, sometimes in confined spaces
- You may encounter pet hair/dander
- Must be able to lift, push and pull barricades, bicycles, traffic control devises, drop boxes and carts up to 200lbs in weight
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES USED
- IMPA class bi-yearly, to be completed in the first year of hire date
- Daily bicycle inspections
- Daily vehicle inspections
- Handheld radios, computers, monitor, scanners, printer, fire extinguishers, vehicle boot, vehicle jump box and recording devices used
- In-ear communication device
