GENERAL OVERVIEW
Wausau Tile is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and safety-conscious Production Associate to support our Site Furnishings and Finishing teams. This role includes responsibilities across mold preparation, concrete casting, product demolding, and surface finishing for concrete and terrazzo products. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or within a team with minimal supervision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Mold Preparation & Assembly
- Clean fiberglass molds (e.g., waste containers, planters, benches, bollards).
- Apply mold release agents and install rebar, bolt inserts, and reinforcements.
- Assemble molds using hand tools, hoists, clamps, and other lifting devices.
Mold Removal & Product Handling
- Carefully disassemble molds and lift products using cranes or hoists.
- Transfer finished items to pallets or staging areas for next-phase processing.
Grouting & Surface Finishing
- Patch and grout concrete products using proper mixtures (e.g. concrete-based fillers).
- Perform manual and machine sanding to achieve smooth finishes.
- Conduct visual inspections and quality checks on all repaired surfaces.
- Move cured products to the next production area using pallet jacks, forklifts, or cranes.
Cross-Department Support
- Assist in other production areas as assigned.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED
- Hand Tools: scrapers, pliers, chisels, vice grips, screwdrivers, wrenches
- Power Tools: cordless drills, impact drivers, orbital/palm sanders, grinders
- Pneumatic Tools: vibrating tools for concrete and epoxy
- Lifting Equipment: forklifts, hand pallet jacks, walk-behind lifts, hoists, cranes, suction pads
- Forklifts: Sit-down forklift operation (with proper training)
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret production paperwork, blueprints, and specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude; able to perform light equipment maintenance.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage workload independently.
- Detail-oriented, with a commitment to high-quality work.
- Able to perform repetitive tasks requiring fine motor skills and attention to finish.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Repetitive motion involving hands, wrists, shoulders, and back.
- Safe use of stairs, ladders, and elevated platforms.
