We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Bid Manager to lead the end‑to‑end bid process for strategic customer opportunities. The successful candidate will play a dual role—managing complex bids while supporting broader Sales Operations activities. Strong experience with Salesforce for pipeline and bid management, and SAP for pricing and reporting, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Bid Management & Coordination

  • Manage the end‑to‑end bid process from qualification and strategy creation through to submission.
  • Run bid kick-off meetings and ensure alignment of timelines, scope, and responsibilities across all stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain detailed bid plans, risk analyses, and compliance matrices.
  • Ensure all bids align with internal governance, approval levels, and audit requirements.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams (sales, engineering, finance, legal, operations) to gather accurate input and ensure bid quality.
  • Work with sales, finance and commercial teams to develop competitive and profitable pricing strategies.
  • Ensure commercial accuracy, margin protection, and risk mitigation.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date bid records, opportunity stages, and documentation.
  • Facilitate post‑submission reviews and capture lessons learned to enhance future performance.
  • Monitor pipeline health, bid progress, and reporting metrics to support sales forecasting.
  • Provide data insights and recommendations to enhance win probability.

Sales Operations Support

  • Support the Sales Leadership Team with operational reporting, analysis, and process improvement.
  • Maintain CRM data quality, ensuring opportunity hygiene, forecasting accuracy, and compliance with sales processes.
  • Prepare dashboards, sales performance reports, and executive summaries using Salesforce data.
  • Work closely with sales teams to optimise the use of Salesforce workflows, templates, and automation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within sales processes, bid governance, documentation libraries, and pricing tools.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience managing bids in a technical, engineering, or high‑reliability environment (healthcare, aerospace, defence, industrial, or similar).
  • Strong working knowledge of Salesforce (opportunity management, reporting, dashboards).
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP in a commercial, sales, or operations environment.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent bids in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Strong commercial awareness with high attention to detail.
  • Experience in Sales Operations or Commercial Operations.
  • APMP, Shipley, or similar bid management certification.
  • Experience with cost modelling, margin analysis, and pricing structures
  • Proficiency with Excel (lookups, pivot tables, nested formulas)
  • Experience using Power BI or similar analytics tools
  • Skilled in document management platforms (Teams, SharePoint)

Personal Attributes

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Proactive and able to drive tasks forward without constant oversight.
  • Calm under pressure and comfortable with tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative, solutions-focused, and commercially aware.
  • Reliable, accountable, and committed to high-quality outcomes.
