Downer Rail & Transit Systems is a leading provider of integrated services in Australia and New Zealand. We specialise in the design, manufacture, and maintenance of rolling stock, and we are committed to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions for the rail industry.

We are currently seeking to appoint an experienced Bid Content Specialist to join our team. This role can be based in either our North Ryde, Brisbane or Melbourne office.

The role:

You will provide essential support in the creation of high-quality, customer-focused submissions across the RTS portfolio. Operating in a complex and safety-critical environment that is infrastructure-focused, you will work closely with Bid Leads, technical subject matter experts (SMEs), and operational teams. Together, you will develop compelling narratives that showcase RTS’s capabilities, delivery experience, and alignment with strategic priorities.

You will take on a hands-on writing role, shaping and drafting substantial sections of submission documents. In addition to content creation, you will support the Bid Lead in executing the agreed win strategy and ensure that all submissions are compliant, compelling, and clearly communicate value, instil delivery confidence, and demonstrate effective risk management.

Education & Qualifications:

• Formal training in bid management, communications, marketing or a business-related discipline (degree or equivalent)

Experience:

• Proven experience developing high-quality, client-focused submissions aligned to both client and organisational Demonstrated expertise in weighted attribute submissions and optimisation of non-price scoring strategies.
• Exposure to infrastructure, rail, transport or related sectors.

Skills & knowledge:

• Excellent writing, editing and narrative development capability.
• Excellent project management skills and ability to manage competing deadlines in complex bid environments.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Ability to influence and guide SMEs to extract and shape high-quality content.
