We are seeking a dynamic Big Board Manager to join our growing team! This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, organized, and results-driven professional.
What you will do:
Bid Board Pricing and Shipment Conversion
- Manage the daily review, prioritization, and pricing of opportunities received through customer bid boards and digital freight platforms.
- Develop competitive pricing strategies based on current market conditions, available capacity, customer requirements, service expectations, and targeted profitability.
- Work with airlines, ocean carriers, trucking providers, overseas offices, and other vendors to secure competitive buy rates and capacity.
- Ensure bid board opportunities are answered within the required response time.
- Review shipment requirements for feasibility, risk, operational complexity, and commercial value before submitting pricing.
- Negotiate pricing and service solutions when permitted by the customer or platform.
- Monitor awarded bids and ensure accepted opportunities are successfully converted into booked shipments.
- Coordinate a complete and timely handover of secured shipments to the appropriate operations team.
- Escalate high-risk, high-value, or time-critical opportunities when additional commercial or operational approval is required.
Bid Board Development and Account Management
- Serve as the primary owner of Röhlig USA’s bid board accounts and related customer relationships.
- Develop strategies to increase participation, shipment volume, win rate, gross profit, and customer share of wallet.
- Identify new customers and existing Röhlig accounts that could benefit from bid board or digital pricing solutions.
- Support the onboarding and implementation of new bid board customers and platforms.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of each customer’s commodities, trade lanes, service requirements, pricing expectations, and decision-making criteria.
- Conduct regular performance reviews with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Analyze lost bids, customer feedback, competitor activity, and market trends to improve future pricing performance.
- Partner with sales and account management teams to expand existing relationships and pursue new opportunities.
- Develop corrective action plans for accounts that are underperforming against volume, revenue, margin, or service expectations.
KPI and Performance Management
- Establish and maintain reporting for bid board performance and shipment-status compliance.
- Monitor key performance indicators, including Bid response rate

- Decline and no-bid reasons

- Ensure required shipment milestones and status updates are entered accurately and within customer deadlines.
- Work with operations teams to resolve missing, late, or inaccurate shipment updates.
- Identify performance gaps and implement measurable corrective actions.
- Prepare regular performance reports and management summaries for Röhlig USA leadership.
- Use data and performance trends to recommend changes to pricing strategies, staffing, processes, and customer engagement.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, manage, and develop pricing team members supporting bid board activity.
- Establish clear individual responsibilities, productivity expectations, and performance goals.
- Assign and balance workloads based on opportunity volume, customer priority, trade lane, and team capacity.
- Provide training and coaching on freight pricing, bid board requirements, customer expectations, commercial decision-making, and internal procedures.
- Conduct regular team meetings, one-on-one coaching sessions, and performance reviews.
- Develop standardized processes and working instructions to improve response speed, pricing accuracy, and shipment conversion.
- Promote accountability, collaboration, urgency, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and professional development.
- Ensure sufficient team coverage during peak periods, employee absences, and outside normal business hours when required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with sales, account management, procurement, operations, finance, and overseas Röhlig offices.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to maintain competitive market pricing and reliable carrier options.
- Partner with operations to confirm that quoted solutions can be executed as presented.
- Support finance and management with profitability reviews, customer credit considerations, and commercial-risk assessments.
- Participate in customer business reviews, implementation meetings, and internal strategy discussions.
- Ensure bid board activities follow Röhlig USA policies, customer agreements, compliance requirements, and established approval procedures.
What you bring:
- Minimum of five years of experience in freight forwarding, transportation, logistics pricing, procurement, account management, or a related field.
- Previous experience leading or supervising pricing, procurement, operations, or customer-service team members is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of international airfreight, ocean freight, domestic transportation, or multimodal logistics.
- Experience using customer bid boards, digital freight platforms, transportation management systems, or online quotation tools.
- Strong understanding of freight rates, surcharges, Incoterms, transit times, carrier services, capacity considerations, and shipment risks.
- Demonstrated ability to balance competitive pricing with profitability and operational feasibility.
- Experience with CargoWise is preferred.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and performance-reporting tools.
- Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive pricing requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
