Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a BI Engineer based in India.

This role is an opportunity for an experienced BI professional to help shape enterprise analytics solutions within a large-scale cloud data modernization initiative.
You will design scalable reporting frameworks, build impactful dashboards, and transform complex data into actionable business insights.
The position focuses on semantic modeling, data governance, and enabling self-service analytics for business stakeholders.
You will collaborate with data engineering and business teams to define trusted metrics and improve decision-making capabilities.
The ideal candidate combines technical expertise in BI platforms with strong storytelling and stakeholder communication skills.
This is a contract opportunity for someone passionate about analytics innovation, cloud technologies, and AI-assisted data experiences.

Accountabilities:

    The BI Engineer will lead the analytics and reporting workstream by designing, developing, and optimizing business intelligence solutions that support strategic decisions. The role requires expertise in dashboard development, semantic modeling, data governance, and translating business requirements into reliable analytics products.

    • Design and develop executive dashboards covering key business, operational, and performance metrics.
    • Build self-service analytics capabilities that enable business users to explore and understand data independently.
    • Develop and optimize Amazon QuickSight semantic datasets, including SPICE capacity management, refresh processes, calculated fields, parameters, and performance tuning.
    • Migrate existing Power BI dashboards and reports to Amazon QuickSight while ensuring continuity and improved performance.
    • Partner with data engineering teams to define semantic layers, canonical data models, and standardized enterprise KPI definitions.
    • Contribute to business glossaries, data dictionaries, and KPI catalogs to ensure consistency across reporting solutions.
    • Enable natural language and AI-assisted analytics experiences through structured semantic definitions and knowledge repositories.
    • Establish dashboard governance standards, security controls, and reporting best practices.
    • Conduct dashboard validation, gather stakeholder feedback, and continuously refine analytics solutions.
    • Support user acceptance testing, production deployments, documentation, knowledge transfer, and post-production activities.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate has strong experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, and cloud-based reporting environments. They should be comfortable working with complex data models, collaborating with stakeholders, and delivering scalable analytics solutions.

      • 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, analytics engineering, or a related field.
      • Strong hands-on experience with Amazon QuickSight, including datasets, SPICE, calculated fields, parameters, row-level security, and dashboard design.
      • Proven experience migrating BI solutions from Power BI to QuickSight or similar BI platform migrations.
      • Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, window functions, and query performance optimization.
      • Strong understanding of dimensional data modeling, semantic layers, and star/snowflake schemas.
      • Experience defining enterprise KPIs, business glossaries, data dictionaries, and reporting standards.
      • Working knowledge of AWS analytics services such as Amazon Redshift, Amazon Athena, and Amazon S3.
      • Experience creating self-service analytics environments for non-technical users.
      • Strong data visualization and storytelling skills with the ability to convert business needs into clear dashboards.
      • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD processes, and version-controlled BI development practices.
      • Excellent analytical thinking, troubleshooting abilities, stakeholder management skills, and communication capabilities.
      • Preferred qualifications:

        • Experience with Amazon Bedrock, conversational analytics, or LLM-assisted BI solutions.
        • Experience with Power BI, including DAX and Power Query, for migration and analysis purposes.
        • Knowledge of AWS Lake Formation, AWS Glue Data Catalog, and metadata or lineage tools.
        • Exposure to predictive analytics visualization and machine learning outputs.
        • AWS certifications related to data engineering, analytics, or cloud architecture are a plus.
