In this role, you will take ownership of BI modeling and semantic layer development, ensuring scalable, accurate, and high-performance analytics infrastructure.

• Develop, maintain, and enhance LookML models, explores, views, and derived tables within Looker
• Write and manage Liquid templating logic (Jinja2 / Shopify-style) for dynamic and parameterized reporting structures
• Build advanced SQL queries in BigQuery to support data modeling, debugging, and performance tuning
• Collaborate closely with data engineers working on dbt models to ensure alignment between data warehouse and semantic layer
• Identify, investigate, and resolve data quality, consistency, and performance issues across BI models
• Review, refactor, and optimize existing LookML structures for scalability and maintainability
• Document data models, logic, and transformations to ensure long-term usability and governance

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a technically strong BI professional with deep experience in Looker, SQL, and modern cloud data environments, comfortable working in complex datasets.

• 3+ years of experience in BI engineering, data modeling, or analytics engineering roles
• Strong hands-on expertise in LookML and Looker, including complex explores and derived tables
• Advanced SQL skills with production experience in BigQuery or equivalent data warehouses
• Experience with Liquid templating (Jinja2 / Shopify flavor) within Looker environments
• Solid understanding of dimensional modeling and core data architecture principles
• Familiarity with dbt, version control (Git), and modern data stack workflows
• Exposure to GCP ecosystem tools beyond BigQuery (e.g., Datastream, Cloud Run) is a plus
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in distributed teams
