Duties, Responsibilities & Other

The BI & Data Solutions Manager leads KCI’s internal data and analytics function, overseeing the people, platforms, and delivery practices that provide the trusted data foundation for enterprise reporting, dashboards, and emerging AI use cases. The team primarily supports KCI’s ERP and related business systems while enabling Enterprise Technology teams to build applications, AI agents, and other solutions using well-governed, reliable data.

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Systems, this role directly manages the Lead Data Engineer, Data Engineer(s), and BI Developer(s), providing technical direction, prioritization, mentorship, and coordination across data engineering and BI work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*:

  • Own and manage the BI & Data Solutions team, directing work and setting priorities and capacity across data engineering and BI/reporting.
  • Provide overall technical direction and roadmap ownership, resolving tradeoffs between data engineering and BI priorities.
  • Balance business-as-usual report and dashboard requests with longer-term data platform initiatives and own the team’s prioritization queue.
  • Own intake and triage for new report and dashboard requests, ensuring transparent and defensible prioritization across stakeholder demands.
  • Mentor team members in time management, task execution, prioritization, and reliable delivery.
  • Ensure data assets are well documented, vetted, and consumable by other Enterprise Technology teams.
  • Partner with peer managers across Enterprise Systems to align data engineering, BI, ERP development, and governance priorities and ensure clean handoffs.
  • Partner with the data governance function to protect capacity for data quality monitoring, governance dashboards, and related tooling.
  • Collaborate across Enterprise Technology to build semantic models, data flows, and curated datasets supporting broader initiatives.
  • Set data architecture priorities with the Lead Data Engineer and BI governance and development standards with BI Developers.
  • Own performance management, coaching, and career development for the team.
  • Represent BI & Data Solutions needs and constraints in cross-team planning, acquisitions, and innovation projects.
  • Report team capacity, delivery progress, and risk to the Director, Enterprise Systems.
  • Comply with all KCI policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, analytical, or business-related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Eight or more years of combined experience in data solutions, business intelligence/analytics development, or enterprise data platforms, including demonstrated experience leading or managing a technical team.
  • Working knowledge of modern data architecture, such as medallion architecture and Microsoft Fabric, and enterprise BI practices, such as Power BI and semantic modeling, sufficient to make informed resourcing, prioritization, and roadmap decisions.
  • Proven experience balancing competing stakeholder demands and establishing a transparent prioritization framework for technical work.
  • Strong track record of team performance management, coaching, and development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical staff, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:

  • Direct experience with Dynamics 365, Dataverse, or a similar enterprise ERP data environment.
  • Experience supporting or partnering with a data governance function.
  • Exposure to AI/ML data enablement initiatives.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred:

  • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600).
  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300).
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900).
