The mission of the Office of the State Controller (OSC) is to protect the financial integrity of the State and promote accountability in an objective and efficient manner.

Salary Range for NC11 is $45,431 - $79,504 (Salary for selected candidate will be based on experience and limited to availability of funds for this position).
This position is in the BEST Shared Services Payroll Operations area. It is part of a team responsible for generating, auditing, and reconciling payroll results for monthly and bi-weekly payroll cycles paying approximately 90K employees. The role and responsibilities of this position require a high level of confidentiality and professionalism; as well as compliance with statutory regulations and adherence to standardized processes with a commitment to data integrity and accuracy. The position answers complex questions about pay calculations and rules, payroll deductions and the impact to withholding taxes, and the effect of HR/time/payroll inputs on payroll results. This position communicates with individual employees, State Agencies, HR/Payroll staff, and Third-party vendors to resolve errors and issues with employee pay and deductions.

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or other curriculum that would provide a core curriculum in financial management coursework from an appropriately accredited institution; or associate degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of accounting or auditing experience; or
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience as an accounting technician, three of which must be at an advanced technical level; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
