BENEFITS SPECIALIST

Victoria or Vancouver Lower Mainland

The Opportunity

At BC Ferries, our people are at the heart of everything we do; connecting communities along the stunning coast of British Columbia. Behind that service is a commitment to our employees’ well-being, and that’s where you come in. We’re looking for a Benefits Specialist to join our Total Rewards team; someone who brings both technical expertise and a people-first mindset to help design and deliver meaningful, competitive benefits programs.

At BC Ferries, Total Rewards is more than programs and policies; it’s about supporting the people who keep our coastal communities connected. In this role, you will be the subject matter expert on all benefits plan arrangements/offerings for the company, including retirement planning, leave policies, wellness programs, and any relevant insurance policies including life insurance, health and disability insurance.

Join us and help shape benefits that make a real impact on employees and their families across British Columbia.

The Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Total Rewards, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:

  • Researching, costing and analyzing benefit plan designs, offerings, policies, and programs to drive value and effectiveness;
  • Developing clear guidelines and providing direction to benefits administrators and PX teams, while auditing carrier records to ensure accuracy and integrity of coverage;
  • Providing expert input and support in the development, review, and refinement of benefit-related policies;
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date benefits information while proactively educating and engaging employees and leaders to maximize awareness and utilization;
  • Evaluating workforce needs, utilization trends, and service satisfaction metrics to generate data-driven insights and inform strategic recommendations;
  • Monitoring industry trends, legislative changes, and emerging best practices to ensure programs remain competitive, compliant, and forward-thinking.

What you bring to the team

  • A degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (CEBS) designation (or working toward it) is considered an asset
  • A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in benefits and total rewards
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Experience managing benefit vendors and participating in RFP processes
  • A solid understanding of benefits legislation, trends, and best practices
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with strong communication skills

Join us!

If this sounds like your next great career move, please submit your cover letter and resume by May 25, 2026 by 11:59pm.

Additional information

The target salary range: $83,500 - $104,300 annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity.
