Position Summary

The Employee Benefits Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact for an assigned book of employee benefits clients, delivering exceptional service, strategic guidance, and ongoing support. This role is responsible for managing client relationships, resolving service issues, coordinating renewals, overseeing benefits administration, and identifying opportunities to enhance client benefit programs. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in employee benefits, highly organized, client-focused, and committed to delivering superior client experience.

Key Responsibilities

Client Service & Account Management

  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned employee benefits clients.
  • Manage and resolve claims, billing, enrollment, eligibility, and membership issues.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and professional responses to client inquiries.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and ensure consistent follow-up on all client matters.
  • Build and nurture long-term client relationships through exceptional service and responsiveness.

Benefits Administration

  • Manage employee and dependent eligibility, including age-related transitions and Medicare-related considerations.
  • Educate clients on benefit plans, carrier processes, and administrative procedures.
  • Coordinate ongoing service activities to support client needs throughout the plan year.
  • Conduct regular client outreach and needs assessments to ensure satisfaction and retention.

Renewal Management

  • Lead the annual renewal process for assigned accounts.
  • Partner with Benefits Consultants to evaluate market options and negotiate with carriers.
  • Prepare renewal analysis, recommendations, and client presentations.
  • Develop strategic benefit solutions that align with client objectives and long-term goals.

Client Education & Communication

  • Conduct client and employee meetings as needed throughout the year.
  • Prepare and distribute communications regarding benefits changes, compliance updates, and industry developments.
  • Ensure clients understand available resources and carrier support channels.

Business Development & Account Growth

  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through ancillary and voluntary benefit offerings, including dental, vision, life, disability, and other employee benefits solutions.
  • Generate referrals through proactive engagement with current clients.
  • Support sales and renewal presentations as requested by management.

Carrier Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers and vendor partners.
  • Leverage carrier resources and relationships to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Evaluate new carrier partnerships and market opportunities that may benefit clients.

Administrative & Special Projects

  • Assist with office operations and administrative support as needed.
  • Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives assigned by management.
  • Support team goals and contribute to operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing employee benefits accounts in an agency, brokerage, consulting, or carrier environment.
  • Strong knowledge of group medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefits products.
  • Understanding of benefits administration, renewals, eligibility, billing, and claims processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client relationship management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
