About the role

At Orica, it’s the power of our people that leads change and shapes our futures. We are currently seeking a Bench Assistant – Open Cut to join our team at Aktogay Mine Site

In this role, you will assist with delivering a high-quality bulk explosive service to customers in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Working closely with the Shotfirer and On-Bench Supervisors, you will support blasting operations by performing tasks associated with loading, tying, and firing blasts.

What you will be doing

  • Assist with the safe and efficient preparation and execution of blasting activities.
  • Support Shotfirers and On-Bench Supervisors with loading and priming blast holes.
  • Assist in handling explosives and blasting accessories in accordance with site procedures.
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site-specific training.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and contribute to a strong safety culture.
  • Report incidents, hazards, and unsafe conditions promptly.

What you will bring

  • Previous experience in heavy industry, preferably within mining.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow operational instructions.
  • Generic Mining Induction (preferred).
