Job Description

Job Title: Bell Captain

Pay Rate: $16.00/hour + service charges

Shift: 9-hour variable shifts based on occupancy

Coverage Hours: 6:30 AM – 1:00 AM

Availability: Weekends & Holidays required

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly

Age Requirement: 25+ (insurance requirement)

The Bell Captain leads the Front Drive and Valet teams in creating a seamless, welcoming, and memorable arrival and departure experience for every guest. Serving as one of the first and last points of contact, this role brings the Sundance values of Welcomed, Valued, and Inspired to life by ensuring warm greetings, thoughtful farewells, and attentive service throughout the guest journey.

The Bell Captain is primarily responsible for guest engagement, hospitality, and the overall flow of front drive operations. While team members manage luggage handling, parking, and valet logistics, the Bell Captain ensures that each interaction reflects genuine care, efficiency, and the spirit of Sundance. This hands-on leadership role focuses on service excellence, team coordination, and creating meaningful connections that set the tone for the guest's entire stay.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Warmly greet and engage every guest, learning names and preferences whenever possible.
  • Provide personalized assistance with wayfinding, resort information, and activity updates.
  • Create a welcoming, guest-friendly atmosphere on the Front Drive, setting the tone for arrivals and departures.
  • Anticipate guest needs with thoughtful touches such as water, hot beverages, or other comforts.
  • Communicate clearly with Ski Valet, Boot Room, Front Desk, and other teams to ensure seamless guest transitions.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety on the front drive and porte-cochère.
  • Manage vehicle flow, valet services, luggage handling, and shuttle logistics with efficiency and care.
  • Provide in-room orientations and recreation readiness support when requested.
  • Uphold environmental practices such as no-idling and property cleanliness.
  • Lead, train, and support the Bell Team, assigning daily duties and promoting a positive, professional, and safe work environment.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Act as a cultural ambassador, sharing Sundance's story, values, and amenities authentically with guests.
  • Handle guest inquiries, requests, and concerns with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
  • Maintain a calm, welcoming demeanor during peak traffic periods and resolve issues resourcefully.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Leadership experience in hospitality preferred.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license in good standing; 25+ years old.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs, navigate varied terrain, and work on feet.
  • Resort or outdoor recreation experience a plus.
  • Computer and radio communication skills helpful.
