
Our Behavioral Support Department located in Queensbury, NY has a full-time, 40-hour Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) or BIS In-Training position available. The schedule for this position is Monday—Friday, hours vary depending on the needs of the program This is a salaried, exempt position with pay rate of $62,553.20 per year.
The Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) will develop and implement behavior support plans (BSP) with a person-centered, strength-based approach in accordance with NYS OPWDD regulatory requirements and the agency’s mission. (The BIS In-Training assists with the development and implementation of BSPs.) The BIS/BIS In-Training will train staff regarding behavior support plans and monitor the effectiveness of the BSP through data analysis and observation. Some remote work is possible but BISs and BISs In-Training are expected to attend meetings and visit WWAARC programs on their caseload.
Qualifications for a WWAARC Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS):
A master’s degree in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology applied psychology as it relates to human development and clinical intervention or a related human services field; OR
A NYS license in Mental Health Counseling, have at least 5 years’ experience working directly with people supported with I/DD and/or supervise and train others on behavior support plans AND have obtained OPWDD approved specialized training or experience in functional assessment techniques and behavior support plan development.
Qualifications for a WWAARC BIS In-Training:
Two years’ experience working directly with individuals with I/DD including the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior support plans AND/OR providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavior support plans.
