Job Profile Summary
This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Medical/Behavioral Health duties: Provides behavioral evaluation services to patients and are specialized in the evaluation and treatment of mental, emotional, and/or behavioral issues.
Hours: 40 hours per week
Monday - Friday 3pm-11:30pm

Clinician provides psychiatric assessment, triage, and case management for Emergency department and medical units.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in Social Work or Psychology.
2. Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
3. Two (2) years of experience in crisis intervention, psychiatric assessment, and/or psychiatric evaluation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Conducts psychiatric assessment for patients as necessary/requested. Triages patients to other clinical services based on assessment.
2. Utilizes the psychiatric administrator-on-call and the on-call psychiatrist for clinical support and recommendations and involves psychiatrist in psychiatrically and/or medically complicated cases.
3. Provides support/intervention with family members and collaterals of patients seen in the Emergency Department.
4. Assists in or conducts bed searches to facilitate patient placement.
5. Maintains contact with Emergency Department and medical floor staff to ensure timely and responsive assistance in managing flow of behavioral health patients.
6. Makes clinically sound and appropriate recommendations and disposition plans.
7. Assists others in assuming assignments, which are being transferred to them.
8. Responds in a timely fashion and is helpful with requests/pages from Emergency Department.
9. Ensures necessary insurance authorizations are in place prior to service delivery or transfer to another level of care.
10. Documents assessments and outcome/recommendations at time of service delivery. Maintains log of contacts, tracks and collects data on services provided.
11. Manages workload in a productive and efficient manner.
12. Submits charges for services provided within time frame.
13. Shows commitment to meeting the needs of customers, both internal and external.
14. Verifies insurance eligibility and documents. Uses this information to make appropriate decisions regarding status of active cases and consults.
15. Builds and maintains productive and positive working relationships with co-workers.
16. Provides education, support and direction to medical staff to improve/facilitate care of behavioral health patients.
17. Communicates effectively with involved staff regarding status of active cases and consults.
Physical Requirements:
1. Frequent sitting, occasional standing & walking, and lifting of 5-10 lbs.
2. Requires manual dexterity, using fine hand manipulation to operate computer keyboard.
3. Ability to see computer screen and reports.
Skills & Abilities:
1. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and diagnoses.
2. Familiarity with psychopharmacology and common medications for medical diagnosis.
3. Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with patients and staff of all levels.
4. Excellent critical thinking skills, good judgement, decision-making ability, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.
5. Adaptable and open to accept criticism or changes with a positive attitude.
6. Knowledgeable about available community resources for patient population.
7. Takes initiative when opportunities are identified.
8. Ability to handle conflict, give and take criticism.
9. Maintains sensitivity, maturity, and flexibility in coping with difficult situations.

$60,908.12 - $76,140.43
