Position Summary

The YMCA’s “Mental Wellness Program” has been operational for two years and is presently providing counseling and other behavioral health services in three YMCA branches: Lakewood, Warrensville Heights, and Lyndhurst. The Behavioral Health Manager will lead the YMCA’s Mental Wellness Program by providing behavioral health services at those 3 branches and by working to enhance and build the clinical practice at those branches as well as other branches in Greater Cleveland.

The YMCA Behavioral Health Manager will conduct engagement activities with YMCA members inviting them to join behavioral health workshops, support and treatment groups, and counseling. The position requires behavioral health knowledge encompassing a wide-range of issues and resources for youth, families, singles and older adults.

Essential Functions

· Continue implementation efforts in of Mental Wellness services addressing the behavioral health needs of YMCA members and those living in YMCA neighborhoods.

· Form and facilitate support groups and treatment groups encompassing a range of behavioral health topics, including: parenting, youth mental health, drugs and alcohol, suicide prevention, etc.

· Provide individual counseling to YMCA members and YMCA neighborhood residents.

· Provide short-term case management, information and referral to YMCA members and YMCA neighborhood residents who require assistance.

· Develop and maintain collaborations with local behavioral health providers who can provide services needed by YMCA members.

· Organize YMCA Behavioral Health workshops and Prevention programming.

· Consult with YMCA staff on behavioral health resources and interventions required for members.

· As YMCA Behavioral Health program develops participate in hiring additional program staff and supervise said staff.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum License: LISW (Licensed Social Worker), LPCC (Licensed Professional Counselor) or LICDC (Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor).
  2. Minimum Education: Master’s Degree
  3. Must have at least 4 years’ experience in Behavioral Health (SUD / MH) Counseling.
  4. Must have successful experience facilitating Behavioral Health group counseling.
  5. Must have knowledge of Substance Use and Mental Health Disorders and other behavioral health issues affecting youth, families, singles and older adults.
  6. Experience in creating behavioral health programming (groups, education, etc.)
  7. Proven ability to meet minimum productivity requirements.

Common Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Be visibly involved with YMCA members, volunteers and staff in a positive, friendly manner that communicates and demonstrates the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  2. Follows all established YMCA and Y-Haven policies and procedures, including but not limited to, safety practices and personnel policies.
  3. Participate in and support association events and fund raising activities.
  4. Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  5. Secure required trainings and/or certifications necessary for the position.
  6. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee is expected to meet the physical requirements of the position, which may include, a frequent amount of sitting, standing and walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. Lifting requirement of the position may be greater depending on the particular job to be performed (i.e. aquatics, child care).

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to read, and write legibly and in an understandable manner. Must be able to effectively communicate with and observe program participants, members and YMCA staff.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy. May be required to work outside and on occasion may encounter inclement weather.

Adherence to these performances standards is expected by the YMCA of Greater Cleveland and measurement of the adherence is part of the annual review and development plan process.
