Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$39.690 - $51.220 - $57.370

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

NOTE: This position is a temporary role and is expected to conclude in September 2027.


What You Will Do
Under direction of the Program Supervisor, this position is responsible for conducting group, individual, and family therapy for patients involved in the inpatient, partial hospital or structured outpatient programs. With consultation from the multi-disciplinary treatment, coordinates the treatment plans and provides case management for assigned patients.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Counseling, psychology or related field
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED


Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 Year Acute/psychiatric hospital experience, discharge planning/case management experience.


Essential Functions

  • Collaboration
    Collaborates with clinical supervisor and interdisciplinary team to develop competency and acquire technical skills.
    Communicates with appropriate supervisor in a timely manner all patient safety issues (e.g., suspected abuse, possible Tarasoff reporting, suicidality, clinical or ethical concerns).
    Requests and accepts feedback and evidences self as a lifelong learner.
    Attends and actively participates in required treatment team meetings and clinical supervision.
  • Communication and teamwork
    Communicates with the members of the healthcare team and court officers, conservator’s office and/or patient advocates as appropriate to expedite patient progress, while upholding patient rights and facility safety. Maintains on going communication with multi-disciplinary team members regarding patient status and follow up.
    Consults with team members in development of treatment plans. Attends treatment team and staff meetings in services and case presentations as designated by unit/department/program.
    Arranges and facilitates patient care conferences for difficult/high risk psychosocial cases to enhance resolution of identified issues.
    Identifies Bioethical dilemmas and initiates appropriate response.
    Consults, coordinates, and intervenes in crisis situations while assisting staff in de-escalating volatile situations and facilitating Code Green and critical incident debriefings.
    Develops interdisciplinary education to increase staff knowledge.
  • Patient assessment
    Assesses, evaluates, and documents the psychosocial needs of the patient and family:
    Performs appropriate patient assessments (psychosocial, SI/HI, safety, DC planning) as related to the clinical services provided.
    Formulates plan of care based on clinical assessment.
    Develops and implements treatment goals which address identified patient needs.
    Completes all documentation elements as appropriate, including, but not limited to, assessments, treatment plan, consultations, recommendations and interventions.
    Documentation is performed in a timely, complete, legible, concise and accurate manner, in accordance with Sharp HealthCare and professional license guidelines, meeting third-party payor and regulatory requirements.
  • Patient care therapy
    Provide therapy and aftercare services to patients of the inpatient unit of Behavioral Health Services or PHP or outpatient programs by conducting group, individual and family sessions, activity therapy when requested, educational groups, films and lectures per program schedule.
    Develops and implements treatment goals which address identified needs. Maintains a current record of care using the treatment plan and documentation in the progress notes. Progress notes and treatment updates will be entered in a timely manner.
    Assists patients and/or family members with out-of-home placement as needed. Monitor patient’s adjustment and provide support to patient and family residential staff. Participates in ongoing performance improvement monitoring and evaluation.
    Attends weekly program staff meetings and other meetings as designated by program. Demonstrates sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity Practices appropriate boundary setting with clients.
  • Safe and therapeutic environment
    Adheres to all policies and procedures and standard of care.
    Demonstrates an alert awareness of the dynamics of the treatment milieu and monitors the behavior of all patients when responsible for patient supervision.
    Responds immediately to crisis situations and intervenes appropriately.
    Evaluates all patients when seen regarding their ability to utilize the treatment milieu safely and effectively.
    Demonstrates ability to handle situations not covered by written or verbal instructions that maintain patient/staff safety.
    Collaborates with resources to develop, implement and evaluate plan of action for identified variance to promote safe patient care in a therapeutic environment.
