Job Title: Behavioral Management Specialist – Respite Mentor - PRN

As a partner in building brighter futures for youth and their families, your role will be to provide relief to caregivers and support activities that align with The Village Network’s Mission, Vision & Values.
Essential Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Supports and provides temporary relief for caregivers spending time with youth in home or in community settings as needed.
Coordinate effectively with families and internal staff to assess needs, preferences, and qualifications to ensure appropriate placements that align with client expectations and staff capabilities.
Provides behavior management in the following ways:
Supporting client’s efforts toward treatment goals
Role model and teach appropriate skills and behaviors
Utilize a trauma focused approach
Assist the youth with daily activities
Responsible for assisting with crisis de-escalation as needed.
Engage and coordinate with family members and link families with mentors.
Present in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions.
Interacts with youth within TVN’s trauma informed models.
Temporarily assists in the transportation needs.
Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires a High School Diploma and 3+ years of relevant experience OR Associates Degree and 2+ years of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field desired.
Experience with Autism and related support strategies a plus.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Ability to work with a diverse population
Ability to use a computer, proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Valid Ohio Driver’s License and maintains a driving record that allows that individual to be insurable with the insurance company providing The Village Network with vehicle insurance. In addition, travel to homes of clients/students is necessary.
Physical Demands:
Ability to comply with The Village Network requirements for using restraints including sufficient strength and completion of extensive training.
Ability to handle bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
Must be able to lift 20 pounds independently.
Must be able to remain alert to problems, needs or emergencies that might arise on any shift, maintaining a safe environment for the clients.
Ability to communicate (verbal and written) with all levels or personnel, internal and external to the company.
