Who We're looking forCopa Health is seeking aMedical Assistant who will assist the provision of medical services under the general supervision of a BHMP. Tasks are delegated to the Medical Assistant may involve direct patient contact including assisting in filling out forms, routine activities such as vital signs monitoring, venipuncture for diagnostic purposes, and collection of body fluid samples from patients. Non face to face clerical activities include updating of patient demographic and outside treatment information, scheduling of diagnostic tests and telephonic appointment reminder calls to patients. Key Responsibilities
Take appropriate vital signs (Height, Weight, Blood Pressure, Pulse Rate, and temperature) and document this information timely and appropriate.
Relay to the supervising RN any findings of abnormal values.
Perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples and collect urine for testing.
Send out any blood samples drawn, or tissue samples taken to the appropriate referral
laboratory.
Assists in calling in prescriptions (new and/ or refill) for patients per appropriate provider approval.
Assists in calling in prescriptions (new and/ or refill) for patients per appropriate provider approval.
Assists as instructed in notifying patients of any outside diagnostic test results and set up follow-up appointments as directed
Qualifications
Must be at least twenty-one (21) years old.
A minimum of a high school diploma/GED, an Associate Degree preferred.
Medical Assistant Certification or have completed an approved MA training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or a medical assisting program accredited by any accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education
One (1) year of behavioral health work experience, preferred.
Valid AZ State driver’s license, vehicle with State minimum car insurance and ability to meet Copa driving guidelines.
CPR certification, required.
Must complete training and demonstrate competence in Integrated Care skills.
Must have demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office applications.
Satisfactory work records as determined by the People 1st
Successfully completes a pre-employment drug screening.
Complete all on-boarding paperwork, in a timely manner and be cleared to attend New Employee Orientation (NEO), as scheduled.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and any other required background checks.
Ability to meet Copa’s driver authorized driving requirements, set forth by Copa Health’s insurance company. Including AZ Driver’s license upon hire, 39-month MVR, proof of insurance and vehicle registration, if applicable.
Bi-Lingual, preferred.
