JOB SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health Liaison will serve as a crucial link between students, parents, school staff, and therapists, ensuring seamless access to mental health services within the school community. This role involves coordinating care, facilitating communication, and providing support through various school events and training sessions.
REPORTS TO:  Director of External Programs
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Client Connection and Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for students and families seeking mental health services.
Coordinate and facilitate connections between clients and mental health services, ensuring timely and effective communication.
Build trust through consistent outreach, in-person support, and presence at school and community events.
Meet families where they are in school buildings, at community centers, or in local neighborhoods to assist with accessing mental health support.
Assist families with understanding and completing mental health paperwork and explain the mental health process in a friendly, easy-to-understand way.
Follow up regularly with families and school staff to ensure students are successfully connected to mental health services and receiving support.
School Collaboration:
Act as a resource for school staff by providing insights into behavioral health trends and available resources.
Collaborate with school counselors, teachers, and administrators to identify students in need of mental health services.
Attend and participate in school events including but limited to Back-to-School Nights, PTA meetings, and other relevant gatherings to promote mental health awareness and resources.
Parent and Teacher Engagement:
Provide educational materials and resources to parents and teachers to help them support students’ mental well-being.
Offer community resource information to families and staff to help them navigate mental health concerns.
Create a judgment-free space for parents and caregivers to ask questions and seek assistance.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate notes and communication logs regarding family contacts, referrals, and outreach efforts.
Provide general administrative support such as coordinating schedules for therapists and assisting with consent forms or intake materials.
QualificationsWHAT YOU NEED:
High School Diploma required; some college or experience in human services, education, or community work strongly preferred
Passionate about mental health, youth development, and community outreach
Experience working in a school setting or with children and adolescents.
Strong understanding of behavioral health issues.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse school populations, including students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
Flexibility in schedule is required to accommodate evening/weekend events
