Position Purpose
At Saint Mary’s Hospital’s Emergency Department, the Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate, trauma-informed care to patients experiencing acute psychiatric or behavioral health crises. This position blends emergency nursing with behavioral health expertise to support patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
What You Will Do
Engage in didactic learning sessions designed to enhance your understanding of Emergency Department (ED) nursing, with a focus on utilizing a state-of-the-art simulation lab.
Apply critical thinking skills to manage high-acuity and complex patients effectively.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide safe, patient-centered care for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.
Pursue certification as a trauma nurse, with opportunities for professional growth in a Level 2 Trauma Center.
Required
Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing is required.
Valid RN license in Connecticut
The ideal candidate will have one or more years of Behavioral Health experience in the Emergency Room setting.
Preferred
BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)
This role is not designed for new graduates or those seeking training in Behavioral Health nursing. Candidates must be able to function independently in the Behavioral Health section of the Emergency Room.
