Behavioral Health Clinic Director - Position Overview:
- Responsible for the overall administration and practice standards of the Behavioral Health Clinics across the state.
- The Behavioral Health Clinic Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Canopy Behavioral Health Clinics including but not limited to: Outpatient Clinic, Emergency Crisis Services, Peer Support Services, and Community Support Services.
- The Behavioral Health Clinic Director directly oversees clinical and support staff within their assigned clinic to implement outpatient services ensuring quality care and fidelity to evidenced-based practice model.
- Plans and organizes implementation of evidenced based assessment and services, standardization of day-to-day operations, staff training, outcomes measurement, engagement, marketing and outreach, and development, program policies and procedures, as well as program fiscal management.
- Responsible and effective management will be critical to achieving the specific objectives and goals.
- This position will also collaborate with state and local personnel and other state agencies as appropriate.
- This position acts as a liaison to senior leadership within Canopy
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, or a related field (required); advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 4 years of experience working with children with serious emotional disturbance (SED) and their families
- Minimum 2 years of clinical supervisory experience, preferably in a community-based behavioral health setting
Licensure
- Active Mississippi professional license in a mental health field required: LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or Licensed Psychologist; LPC-S or LCSW-S preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to work within a complex system of care
- Demonstrated competence in managing and administering a broad array of behavioral health services across diverse staff
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles
- Experience with data collection, performance improvement projects and Excel
- Familiarity with DMH and TJC standards, RVUs, and therapy billing codes preferred
Other Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Valid Mississippi driver's license with a good driving record
- Proof of legally appropriate auto liability insurance
- Willingness to use a personal vehicle for organizational business
Required Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Required Physical Activities: sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting, talking, seeing, hearing, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching overhead, and climbing stairs as needed and repetitive motions. Must have the physical ability to assist in the physical or therapeutic hold of youth when required, following organization approved safety protocols.
- Characteristics of Work: frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and physically assist or support youth and/or staff.
- Vision Requirements: Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Environmental Conditions: This job requires exposure to both inside and outside weather conditions; the typical noise level for the work environment is moderate to loud noise.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain program accreditation, certification and licensure in coordination with the Division Director of Behavioral Health Solutions and as outlined by DMH.
- Responsible for on-site compliance reviews, audits, or certification reviews from regulatory authorities for Outpatient Services in coordination with the Division Director of Behavioral Health Solutions.
- Implement organization policy, procedures and plans in coordination with the Division Director of Behavioral Health Solutions assuring the effective and consistent operation of the Outpatient Clinic.
- Assist in review of policies and procedures at least once annually, assuring the effective operation of the Outpatient Services in coordination with the Division Director of Behavioral Health Solutions.
- Assist in program evaluation and continuous quality improvement in coordination with the Director of Quality Management and Division Director of Behavioral Health Solutions assures on call rotation for crisis management services.
- Is available for consultation with on call therapist in emergent situations.
- Assures follow up on all crisis calls through the outpatient therapist or CSS within 24 hours.
- Ensures timely reporting for DMH.
Assures clinical integrity within Outpatient Services by:
- Assist in reviewing current program designs and modifications as necessary.
- Assures integrity of child/youth records and personal data.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining procedures regarding child/youth confidentiality as needed.
- Conduct internal audits to assure compliance with regulatory authorities and quality practice.
- Conduct monthly case reviews to assure quality of practice, treatment and services.
- Coordinate staff development and training with the Behavioral Health Division Director and the Director of Training.
- Provides staff and Canopy management with data driven reporting that drives programmatic and individual improvements.
Carries out administrative and clinical duties, which include:
- In coordination with the Division Director of Behavioral Health Solutions, is responsible for location/site management which includes but is not limited to managing lease, office space, grounds, and environment of care.
- Responsible for managing the Behavioral Health Clinics budget in coordination with Division Director of Behavioral Health Solutions.
- Responsible for posting positions, interviewing, on-boarding, and when necessary separating in consultation with the Division Director of Behavioral Health Solutions and Human Resources.
- Responsible for monitoring and managing the Behavioral Health Clinic’s KPI expectations.
- Responsible for engagement with staff.
- Conduct marketing and outreach in the community.
- Assure adequate staff coverage following organization and regulatory guidelines.
- Attend supervision with Division Director of Behavioral Health Solutions bi-weekly.
- Perform 90 day and annual evaluations on all direct employees under supervision.
- Approve time sheets for all direct employees under supervision on a bi-weekly basis.
- Provides weekly supervision with Programmatic leads and office manager.
- Aids in the development and evaluation of Clinic KPI’s
- Ensure the proper credentials of all Outpatient Services staff are maintained.
- Assure schedule/coverage for administrative and clinical on-call.
- Prepare reports as required.
- Maintain professional licensure and present proof of license renewal.
- Obtain and maintain required certifications.
- Develop and recommend annual and long-range plans within established guidelines.
- Performs other duties as required.
