Starting Hourly Pay: $26.03

The Behavioral Health Assessment Specialist (BHAS) will serve as the primary person to provide patient assessments and assure behavioral health patient intakes are completed for the Behavioral Health providers. The BHAS ensures individuals are assessed in a timely and professional manner that meets quality standards for all entities that provide oversight and/or funding at NATIVE HEALTH, including T/RBHA and licensing entities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Provides assessments of individuals who participate in the Behavioral Health treatment programs, utilizing all required forms and assuring quality of care.
  2. Provides accurate and timely documentation, billing, and program audit support.
  3. Actively participates in case staffing meetings and peer review sessions.
  4. Collaborate with the care team and other internal and external health care providers for shared patients to facilitate patient care and follow-up, while promoting the healthcare home mission in all aspects of service delivery.
  5. Remains current on behavioral and mental health services as well as assessments.
  6. Supports the organization as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Knowledge of the cultural, social, and economic backgrounds of the populations served and the ability to work with diverse populations.
  2. Courteous, honest, and professional at all times.
  3. Excellent communication skills and relates well with patients, providers, agency staff, and service contacts.
  4. Ability to accomplish the quality and quantity of work expected within set limits of cost and time.
  5. Knowledge of DSM-V-TR diagnostic criteria.
  6. Ability to plan own work and carry out assignments effectively.
  7. Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office, Outlook and quick to learn new systems/programs.
  8. Ability to provide electronic, written or oral reports and evaluations concerning program activities, accomplishments, goals, and objectives timely.
  9. Knowledge of existing social and behavioral health resources available for patient care.
  10. Must be able to work with confidential material without betraying the trust of patients, families, or the agency, in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations, as well as agency policies.
  11. Ability to assess quality of patient care and to make improvements as needed.
  12. Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse issues of the populations served.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health or social services related fields strongly preferred (or experience equivalent). Master’s degree is preferred.
  2. Two years of specialized experience working or related to the line of work of the position, which has provided the applicant with specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
  3. Experience in providing DSM-V-TR diagnosis in a patient care setting.
  4. Experience with NextGen electronic health record preferred.
  5. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred. Fluency evaluation is required

Standard Employment Requirements:

  1. Must possess a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver’s license (within 30 days of hire if applicant is from out-of-state) with no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in the last five years. No more than two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Must maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license during employment. Must be insurable under NATIVE HEALTH’s liability auto policy.
  2. Must pass a criminal background check and obtain a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within the initial ninety (90) calendar days of employment and retain a valid card while employed with NATIVE HEALTH.
  3. Must pass substance abuse testing upon employment and submit to random testing during employment.
  4. Must provide an updated immunization (IZ) record at the time of employment.
  5. Must have a current (within 12 months) Tuberculosis (TB) skin report upon employment and provide an annual update.
  6. Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within (90) calendar days of employment and maintain certification during employment.
