The Behavioral Health Admissions Coordinator reads through & screens referrals for the hospital’s in-house psychiatric units (adult mental health unit & geriatric psychiatry unit). The BH Admissions Coordinator manages any crisis evaluation that is dispositioned for inpatient level of care to ensure timely placement occurs. The BH Admissions Coordinator will work with the Heywood BH inpatient units to facilitate a seamless transition for any ER patients accepted for admission. The BH Admissions Coordinator will verify active insurance coverage exists - for patients accepted to the Heywood inpatient behavioral health units where no insurance exists will contact the financial counselor to meet with the patient. The BH Admissions Coordinator will be responsible for uploading to Point Click Care any ER patients deemed an inpatient bed search who are being outsourced. The BH Admissions coordinator will collaborate with the BH clinical team, Emergency Department, Medical Departments (when applicable) as well as provide patients/families/caregivers/HCP through admission paperwork.

Comfortable with providing brief mental health support to patients over the phone.
Ability to coordinate care for patients with behavioral health challenges.
Knowledge of insurance verification processes & obtaining prior authorizations.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Understanding of HIPAA compliance & patient privacy laws.
Familiarity with medical & mental health terminology & levels of care.
