POSITION DETAILS
We seek a Behavior Interventionist to fill a critical role in the new K-2 classroom at ReNEW Therapeutic Program (RTP), an innovative, intensive therapeutic program for students in K-8th grade with severe behavioral and mental health needs. The behavioral interventionist will be responsible for maintaining positive student interactions, consistently enforcing the Behavior Intervention program philosophy and procedures, assisting in escorting students to and from the intervention room, deescalating crisis situations with skills learned in CPI training, maintaining an accurate parent contact log, and assisting in the daily filing of paper reports into student records.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Maintain the safety and well-being of the children at all times.
  • Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings as required by the School Leader.
  • Assist in the daily maintenance of the behavior room environment through assistance with setup, cleanup, and organization of materials.
  • Assist in the implementation of research-based curriculum.
  • Assist with strategies for maintaining orderly classroom, hallway, and community behavior on an individual and group basis.
  • Work with teachers to establish and maintain open and positive lines of communication with students, other staff, and parents concerning academics, language, and behavior.
  • Maintain the school culture of high academic and behavioral expectations through continuous reflection.
  • Assist with the detailed data input to inform effective instructional practices.
  • Maintain the BI culture and systems in the event that the behavior interventionist is not present.
  • Assistance in filing referrals, FBAs, BIPs, Counseling Documents, FINS, etc.
  • A commitment to covering after school detention a minimum of 2 days a week and Saturday School at least once a month
  • Assist with student arrival and departure, transitions between class periods, and lunch supervision.
  • Assist School Leader and Behavior Interventionist on an as needed basis.


Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to continuously sit,walk, stand, talk, and hear. Light lifting may be required (up to 30 pounds).
