Job Description

The primary role of the Behavioral Interventionist is to support scholars with IEPs through small group instruction, push-in classroom support, and reading intervention. The ideal candidate should have experience working with students with disabilities and challenging behaviors.
Job Responsibilities Assist scholars with behavioral challenges in and outside the classroomProvide support to students with special education needs to achieve IEP goalsCollaborate with scholars' general education and RSP teacherFacilitate reading intervention, small group instruction and pull out groupsConduct academic assessmentsProvide instruction in various drills and activities using learning strategies designed to introduce, reinforce, or modify skillsActively participate in professional development aimed at refining both school culture and academicsWork and assist teachers during the school day with instruction, oversight, and supervision of studentsFollow policies and procedures for health, safety, and nutritionMaintain high behavioral expectations for scholar behavior at all times and enforce Equitas Academy’s positive discipline policiesMaintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and other stakeholdersMay provide adaptive supports with eating and toiletingPerform other duties as assigned

About Us

Equitas Academy Charter School was founded in 2009. We are a network of free public schools for families who believe their children deserve a high-quality education and challenging school experience. Our school model offers credentialed, passionate, and dedicated teachers and staff who are experts in their field. We currently serve over 1,000 students in Kinder-8th grade in two Elementary Schools and one Middle School and will open our second Middle School in August 2017. Equitas Academy is based in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.
