Job Description

Under the supervision of the School Age Site Coordinator the Group Leader will assist in supervising the program and ensuring a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for all children involved in the program. In addition, the Group Leader will ensure that all areas of responsibilities of the job reflect the mission beliefs of the Old Colony Y. S/He will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and the regulating agency. The Group Leader will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties.

JOB FUNCTION:

  1. PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:

-Help plan, develop and implement the curriculum with the guidance and support of the Site Coordinator.

-Assist in the arrangement, appearance, decor, and environment of the school age room.

-Maintain proper behavior of all children at all times.

-Adhere to all OCCS regulations and Old Colony Y policies.

-Assist in preparing breakfast, lunch, and snack for assigned children.

-Assist the Site Coordinator with the following:

*Maintaining children’s files *Developing the monthly newsletter

*Organizing field trips *Developing and implementing age-appropriate activity plans

-Assist on field trips and special events to ensure the safety of children.

-Complete necessary paperwork including accident/incident forms, documentation and observation sheets

  1. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Help ensure maximum enrollment is achieved.

  1. FACILITY/HOUSEKEEPING RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Assist in clean up of all rooms used in the program.

-Help maintain inventory of games, craft supplies, snack supplies, and equipment reporting needs of such equipment or supplies to Site Coordinator.

-Responsible for leaving indoor/outdoor and vehicle areas clean and in proper condition for the next program use.

  1. INTERDIVISIONAL AND COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY:

-Attend all staff meetings and Y trainings.

-Participate in Interdivisional job assignments as requested.

-Attend at least 20 hours of annual training as required by OCCS

Qualifications

AVAILABLITY: Candidate MUST be available to work 6:45am-9am

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

-Must be at least 18 years old, and have 6 months school age experience.

-Have a high school diploma or equivalent.

-Good interpersonal communication skills.

-Maintain first aid and CPR certificates.

-Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.

-Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.

-Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
