REPORTS TO: CHILDCARE MANAGER

STATUS: PART-TIME (NON-EXEMPT)

POSTION SUMMARY:

The Childcare Group Leader will lead activities of daily child programs such as monitoring, safekeeping, and enforcing daily operations while providing excellent customer service. This position starts as a Childcare Team Member and once minimum training requirements have been met, transitions to a Childcare Group Leader.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assist children while they engage in group and individual sports activities
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Oversee morning drop-off and check-in as well as afternoon pick-up and sign-out
  • Assist other counselors/coaches with any other duties as assigned by Childcare Manager
  • Maintain effective discipline and safety procedures during child activities
  • Transport children to and from school

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 19 years of age or older
  • Have a high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalence
  • 1 year of college or a combination of experience and college together that are equivalent to 1 year preferred
  • Flexible work schedule and regular attendance is necessary
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Must be detail-orientated and have outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in difficult and stressful situations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools and be comfortable using a computer

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS DURING EMPLOYMENT:

  • 3 clock hours of approved training in Americans with Disabilities Act compliance
  • Basic health and safety training
  • 6 semester hours or 90 clock hours of approved preservice training
  • 9 clock hours of approved preservice training in communicating with staff, parents, and the public, or at least one academic college course for credit
  • 400 hours of experience working under supervision primarily with school age children in a licensed care center, public or private school, or similar setting

ONGOING REQUIREMENTS ANNUALLY:

  • 12 clock hours per full year of employment as a childcare teacher that consists of;
    • Minimum of 6 clock hours of core knowledge training and
    • Maximum of 6 clock hours of elective training
  • Health & Safety training

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds waist high
  • Will be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop, or bend
  • Must be able to identify problems and/or hazards and resolve or report to management
  • Must comply with safety and health code standards
  • Facility has intermittent noise
  • Able to run/walk as needed
