Job Category: EducationDo you enjoy working with kids and creating fun, memorable experiences? We’re looking for enthusiastic part-time team members to lead games, swimming, crafts, and activities while helping children feel safe, supported, and excited to participate each day.
Schedule
- Positions available up to 20 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours
- Schedules vary based on program needs and staff availability. Typical program hours include: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 6:30am-9:15am and/or 2:30pm – 6:30pm; Wednesday hours are typically 12:30 – 6:30pm
- Monthly staff meetings are held outside regular program hours, typically before the aftrenoon shift begins

What You'll Do
- Lead and support daily activities, including indoor and outdoor games, arts & crafts, and free swim time
- On occasion safely drive school-age children in a 15-passenger van to/from Samena and select local schools, typically 10-15 minutes each way
- Help lead fun, age-appropriate activities/games that keep children engaged and excited to participate
- Build caring, positive relationships with children and help each child feel welcomed and supported
- Maintain a positive, safe and healthy environment for children and fellow staff
- Assist with special programs and Club events, such as Non-School Day Camp and Kids Night Out (Saturdays)
- Support children through minor conflicts using appropriate behavior guidance and child development practices
- Help keep program spaces neat, clean, and aligned with Samena and state licensing standards
- Maintain good standing in MERIT by following all state licensing requirements
- Attend monthly staff meeting
QualificationsQualifications
- 18 years old or older
- High school diploma or GED (not required if still in high school)
- Experience in childcare
- Valid Washington State Driver's License (required if driving)
- 5-year clean driving record (required if driving)
- Ability to pass/show proof of clearing Portable Background Check*
- CPR/First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens certification*
- Proof of negative TB test
- Proof of MMR vaccine or proof of immunity
- Washington State Food Handler’s Permit*
- 30 Hours STARS/Child Care Basics training certification*
- 10 hours STARS professional development certification, annually
- *Training is either provided and/or paid for by Samena.

- Self-motivated with a professional demeanor and strong work ethic
- Collaborative team player with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Able to work with a diverse population and maintain confidentiality
- Comfortable mediating conflicts between students positively and professionally
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff, children, and families via written incident reports and in-person exchanges
- Able to pivot and solve problems using critical thinking and creativity

We provide high-quality programs and services to our members and guests year-round. Our facility includes a fitness room, playground, classrooms, tennis courts, a seasonal wading pool, a year-round 25-yard, 6 lane outdoor pool and a year-round 25-meter, 6 lane indoor pool.
