We’re seeking expressions of interest from Surfacing Engineers keen to join our Surfacing team in Central Otago. In this role, you’d support surfacing operations through quality assurance and technical input, while working closely with crews and suppliers to deliver high-quality paving outcomes, helping us build and maintain safer, more reliable roads for our communities.

This opportunity would suit engineers who enjoy a mix of hands-on, outdoor work and technical responsibilities across multiple sites. You’d be involved in supporting surfacing activities in the field while contributing to quality assurance and project coordination. Working closely with crews, supervisors, and suppliers, you’d help ensure projects are delivered safely and to a high standard. Your work would play an important part in building and maintaining reliable road networks for the communities we support.
Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities
Support surfacing operations through on-site investigations, measurements, and stringline checks
Deliver quality assurance processes including testing, reporting, and continuous improvement of QA systems
Coordinate with crews, supervisors, and suppliers to ensure smooth execution of paving works
Provide technical input and survey assistance to support accurate and efficient project delivery
Maintain project documentation, drawings, and records to ensure compliance and traceability

Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
Experience in surfacing, civil construction, or a similar hands-on engineering environment
Strong understanding of quality assurance processes and testing within a construction setting
Full Class 1 New Zealand Driver’s Licence
Effective communication skills, with the ability to work closely with crews, supervisors, and stakeholders
Ability to manage priorities and work autonomously in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
