Job Description

BCYF Curtis Hall Community Center shares the same mission as the Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF). The BCYF mission is to enhance the quality of life for Boston’s residents by partnering with various organizations to offer a wide range of comprehensive programs and activities tailored to the needs and interests of each neighborhood. At BCYF Curtis Hall Community Center, we serve all populations, regardless of age, sex, race, religion, economic background, sexual orientation, political affiliation, etc. For nearly 40 years, BCYF Curtis Hall Community Center has been serving residents of Jamaica Plain and the surrounding Boston areas. Our staff reflects the diverse demographics of the community we serve. We offer free and/or accessible programs and activities, including in-house youth basketball and futsal leagues, soccer, pickleball, swim teams, a drop-in teen center, homework assistance, Tech Goes Home, meals/snacks, computer programs, Xbox/PS4-5 competitions, field trips, Zumba, arts & crafts, and holiday card design for veterans and seniors. For teens, BCYF Curtis Hall Community Center also provides year-round employment opportunities, including through our collaboration with the Youth Employment Program (YEO) during the summer.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Responsible for crowd counting and directing the crowd. - Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the facility, including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal from both the building and outdoor areas (front lawn, parking lot, etc.). - Help with copying and distributing materials, water, etc. - Assist with game setup, breakdown, and scorekeeping.

- Ability to follow instructions and multitask. - Able to stand for long periods of time. - Punctual and reliable. - Ability to work with a diverse population. - Must be able to lift up to 20lbs.
