Business Banking (BB) supports more than one million small, medium and large business customers across Australia through a broad range of lending, transaction, trading and digital solutions. We serve customers through branches, digital and phone channels, relationship managers and specialist teams across Small Business Banking, Commercial Banking, Major Client Group and Regional & Agribusiness.
As BB Contract Management Program Lead, you will play a critical role in uplifting how Business Banking identifies, governs and manages negotiated customer contractual commitments, strengthening risk discipline, improving customer outcomes and enabling sustainable growth.
What your role will involve
Reporting to the Controls Centre of Excellence Lead within the Chief Controls Office, Business Banking, you will lead a Business Banking–wide transformation to establish a centralised, scalable and technology‑enabled contract management capability.
This role is accountable for the end‑to‑end design and execution of the BB Customer Contract Management Program, ensuring negotiated customer contracts are consistently governed, operationally executable, monitored and assured within risk appetite, and embedded into business‑as‑usual operating models across Business Banking and Institutional Banking and Markets.
On any given day, you will
Lead the end‑to‑end execution of the BB Customer Contract Management Program, providing transparent reporting to senior leaders and governance forums
Define and embed a target operating model for contract management, including clear ownership, governance, decision rights and accountability across business and service teams
Lead the implementation of fit‑for‑purpose contract management solutions that materially improve obligation management, monitoring and assurance
Lead and oversee delivery with selected external vendor, providing clear business ownership, risk oversight and strategic direction
Anticipate and respond to changes in the internal and external risk environment that may impact contractual risk, operational resilience or regulatory compliance
Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team, fostering a proactive risk and control culture and uplifting capability across the business
Enable strong engagement and effective working relationships across the three lines of defence to support effective oversight, assurance and reliance
We’re interested in hearing from people who have
Significant experience delivering complex, cross‑functional programs end‑to‑end within large, regulated or enterprise environments
Strong understanding of non‑financial risk management, governance, control design and assurance, and the ability to embed these into operating models and BAU processes
Demonstrated experience partnering with senior executives as a trusted advisor, providing pragmatic advice that balances customer outcomes, delivery and risk discipline
Strong people leadership capability, with experience building and developing high‑performing teams and uplifting capability beyond direct reports
Strategic thinking, sound judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively in complex and ambiguous environments
A growth mindset and a passion for building sustainable, well‑governed solutions that stand the test of time
